NAR's Education Opportunities - The NAR Green Designation

An emerging professional in the real estate industry, Noe Velazquez started working for Century 21 1st Class Homes as a real estate broker in 2019, helping clients buy or sell their houses. Noe Velazquez is a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), the country's largest trade association.

NAR represents 1.4 million members who are commercial and residential brokers, property managers, salespeople, and other professionals engaged in the real estate sector. Focused on delivering excellence and promoting the industry, NAR offers its members a wide selection of courses and real estate training options.

Besides online and live virtual courses, NAR provides continuing education opportunities based on the practice state and partners with societies, institutes, and councils to offer industry designations and certifications.

Agents and other real estate practitioners interested in gaining knowledge related to sustainability and energy efficiency within the industry can earn the NAR Green Designation. The requirements for US-based professionals include completing two courses and passing the examination. The first course is related to the remodeling, renovation, and construction of resource-efficient homes, while the second tackles the representation of sellers and buyers of resource-efficient homes.

The NAR Green designation also requires an active membership with the NAR Green REsource Council and submitting an application form. Professionals holding this designation gain access to market research insights on the topic, are listed in the online Green directory, and receive the monthly Green REsource Council's newsletter.
